BIOGRAPHY OF THE ENGAGED ARTIST

Alain Séraphine

Alain SERAPHINE is graduated of the National Diploma of Fine Arts with the congratulations of the jury and a mention for his educational commitment. He embodies, since 1975, an approach of “committed artist”.

Year after year, Alain SERAPHINE will strive through his creative approach, to create on his island, institutions that combine Culture, Social commitment and Economic development.

​

His aim as his strong believes are always the same:

The development of creative thoughts that can generate dreams, fight against all forms of exclusion, and integrate a different way of living together.

Beyond his paintings, sculptures, design projects and his organizations such as the Atelier Portois or the Titan Village,

we will remember:

- in 1991, the Reunion Graduate School of Fine Arts that he led until the empowerment of the Diploma to the level of European Master’s degree, validated by the AERES in 2010

- in 1994, the Institute of Image of Indian Ocean; a Higher Education Institution for professional training in the fields of Image and New Media (2D / 3D animation cinema, video game, multimedia, audiovisual / cinema)

- in 1995, Pipangaï, a computer digital animation Studio launched with Abdéali GOULAMALY,

- in 1997, the Reunion Biennale welcoming young emerging talents from the “Southern economic countries”. The Reunion Island becomes a land of creation and incubation for innovative projects at the crossroad of Asian, African and European cultures, as a part the World Creation.

- in 2018, he works on the creation of "L'ILIADE" (The Institute of African and Asian Image in Digital Design)
